It has been reported that Angelina Jolie is in early talks to star in the upcoming Fox remake "Murder on the Orient Express".

The story centers on special detective Hercule Poirot, who boards a train from Jerusalem to Europe only to have a murder committed in the auto next to his during a snowstorm.

Ridley Scott (The Martian), Simon Kinberg (The Martian, X-Men: Days of Future Past), Mark Gordon (Steve Jobs) and Branagh will produce the movie along with Michael Schaefer and Aditya Sood.

This story has a big cast of characters-the 1974 movie version starred Bacall, Anthony Perkins, Ingrid Bergman, Albert Finney, Michael York, Sean Connery, Vanessa Redgrave, and others-so it will be intriguing to see who else is picked to fill out the ensemble.

Bosses at Hollywood studio Twentieth Century Fox want the 41-year-old actress to take on the role of wealthy American Harriet Hubbard in the film, according to a report in Britain's Daily Mail newspaper.

Michael Green wrote the screenplay for Fox's film, which is set for a release on November 22, 2017.

The story revolves around special detective Hercule Poirot, who boards a train from Jerusalem to Europe only to have a murder committed in the auto next to his during a snowstorm. But she has spent much of the past several years focusing on her directing career, tackling such films as Unbroken and By the Sea, which she also starred in opposite her husband Brad Pitt. Angelina Jolie, meanwhile, is reportedly in the process of agreeing terms to reprise her title role for Maleficent 2. Fox has earmarked November 22, 2017 for the release date.

Jolie is represented by UTA and Media Talent Group.
