Lenovo Smart Assistant vs. Amazon Echo: Comparison Of Specs, Features

While the Lenovo Smart Assistant has a lot in common with Amazon's Echo, the device itself has a bit more style going for it, sporting colorful mesh on the bottom half of its body. Like the Echo, you simply yell out whatever questions or commands you want to Lenovo's speaker, and Alexa will tap into the same set of "Skills" to help where it can.

At the end of a year ago, Amazon announced that Alexa helped them break their sales records.

Those snapping up the new Smart Assistant, which starts at $129, can even use the Alexa app to assist with set-up and usage. The Smart Assistant is powered by an Intel Celeron N3060 processor and 2GB of RAM.

Amazon's Alexa Voice Services are expected to power a wide range of items at CES 2017, including a high-end Samsung vacuum cleaner called Powerbot VR7000 and other intriguing gadgets. With eight 360-degree far field mics on board, it can pick up your voice commands from up to 16 feet away. The standard version will sell for $130 while the one with Harman Kardon speakers will cost $180. Lenovo has stated that their speaker will include Amazon's assistant, known as Alexa, which can also be found in the Echo or Dot devices. Both Amazon and Google have ways to delete information from a home assistant if the user requires it, but Lenovo has not disclosed any details regarding this matter. First and foremost, the Lenovo speakers come in different colors, in orange, green, and gray.

Lenovo also unveiled a hand-held controller created to make smart TV and smart home management easier at CES.

According to Johnson Jia, Lenovo's senior vice president, PC & Smart Device Business Group, the device is anything but a me-too product. The company has designed security and P2P access for the stored data like images, documents, music and movies. You'll then be able to stream video content easily through DLNA, sort photos easily through automatic facial recognition, or simply keep your files safe. The special Harman Kardon model will cost $179.99.
