The 2009 event drew huge crowds, estimated at around 1.8 million, to see the first black President take the oath of office.

"We, the citizens of America, are now joined in a great national effort to rebuild our country and to restore its promise for all of our people", the president said after taking the oath from Chief Justice John Roberts.

Trump also posted his patriotic messages on Facebook.

He paid lip service to "black or brown or white" Americans who "all bleed the same red blood of patriots" and how patriotic hearts can not hold prejudice within them.

"I'm 100 percent for rightful, peaceful protest", said Mr.

"One by one", Trump said, "the factories shuttered and left our shores with not even a thought of the millions and millions of American workers that were left behind".

We've heard this trend of thought before; throughout the contentious 2016 campaign cycle and at Trump's acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention.

He promised to reinforce alliances with friendly nations but also to "unite the civilized world against radical Islamic terrorism, which we will eradicate completely from the face of the Earth".

"Protection will lead to great prosperity and strength", Trump said.

In his inaugural address, the new President said a "new vision" would now govern America.

More importantly, policies from the new administration have already appeared on the White House website. They then were transported to Trump International Hotel for the luncheon.

Additionally, the administration commits to diplomacy: "The world must know that we do not go overseas in search of enemies, that we are always happy when old enemies become friends, and when old friends become allies". So did almost every living former president, from Jimmy Carter and George W. Bush to Bill Clinton and his wife, Hillary, who was defeated by Trump last November after a costly and divisive campaign. After the inauguration, the Obamas flew away from the Capitol on a Marine helicopter to Joint Base Andrews, where they then departed for a vacation in California on the plane that serves the president as Air Force One.

Hundreds of thousands of people around the world have joined women's marches to protest Mr Trump's presidency.

His first oration as the new occupant of the White House was a condensed version of the numerous campaign speeches, though shorn of the rambling that marked them; and sharp thanks to a teleprompter.

Rabbi Marvin Hier, founder of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, offered a benediction for Trump at the inauguration.

Donald Trump, the billionaire businessman and reality television star who shook up the world of politics on his way to the top, was sworn in Friday as the 45th president of the United States. He joined figures from other faiths who also offered blessings. "We will shine for everyone to follow", he said.

Trump has always been a plain-spoken, straight-shooter, and this speech was no different.

Viewers can log in to NDTV.com from 8 pm on January 20, 2017; a Friday to watch the ceremony live.

"For many decades, we've enriched foreign industry at the expense of American industry, subsidized the armies of other countries while allowing for the very sad depletion of our military", he said.
