Qatar Airways arranges charter flights through Oman Air from Jeddah

Some analysts are predicting that Qatar will have to give in to Saudi Arabia's demands to end the crisis. The Saudi ports authority says Qatari-flagged shipping vessels are barred from docking.

The diplomatic row between Qatar and Arab League countries started on Monday when Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Yemen subsequently announced cutting diplomatic ties with the state, accusing it of supporting terrorism.

Qatar Airways Cargo has started services with an Airbus A330 freighter to London's Heathrow Airport, marking the start of freighter services to the carrier's second airport in London.

Regional government officials told the Financial Times that Qatar paid $700 million to Iran and Shiite militias supported by the regime.

Saudi media also said the country's central bank had also asked local banks to sell Qatar's currency, the Riyal, and not to buy anymore of it.

Qatar has repeatedly faced criticism for alleged support of the Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist group considered a terrorist organization by Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Some even questioned the Gulf nation's ability to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup if the diplomatic isolation continues.

"The General Authority of Civil Aviation has chose to cancel all licenses granted to Qatar Airways and to close all of its offices in the kingdom within 48 hours", the official Saudi SPA news agency cited the regulator as saying. Doha, Qatar's capital city, is a major airline hub, and the Saudi sanctions have thrown airline schedules in the entire region into chaos.

"Profitable redeployment of this capacity will prove a substantial challenge for the airline".

UAE carriers Emirates, Etihad, flydubai and Air Arabia, as well as Saudi Airlines had all announced the suspension of flights to and from Qatar as of Tuesday morning.

Qatar is rich in oil and gas, but it doesn't produce much of its own food; nearly all of its food comes from Saudi Arabia, with which it shares its only land border. However, it is USA politics that is the cause of the current confusion, and in particular the resistance to the idea of normalisation of Arab-Israeli relations.

It was one of 10 airlines hit by a laptop ban introduced by the Trump administration in March.

"There is growing evidence that the ban on large electronic devices in the cabin and the uncertainty created around possible U.S. travel bans is taking a toll on some key routes", he said.

According to Tzuriel, Qatar is a source of frustration for the Sunni camp not only for its connections with the radical Muslim Brotherhood and tehran, but also for its popular, often critical, Al-Jazeera news network.

Qatar's leader is expected to address his nation Tuesday, one day after the country was thrust into the center of an unprecedented diplomatic crisis that threatens to disrupt everyday life and leave the oil-rich nation isolated from key allies.

The announcement from Qatar Airways on Tuesday still left some passengers confused about what they should do. The aircraft were being forced to take a single flight path in out of Doha.
