Starsport can reveal the Gunners hierarchy are ready to put their foot down and stop Sanchez going to Manchester City.

Liverpool could be frustrated in their pursuit of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as it's thought Arsenal will not sell to a title rival. Moreover, Liverpool are also interested in signing Guinean worldwide and Leipzig star Naby Keita (via Bild).

Arsenal have already shown their ambition by smashing their transfer record to sign Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon for £52m.

Monaco's Thomas Lemar could be a potential contender to take over the role from Sanchez, but the Principality club appear to be holding out for at least £80m in order to let go of the France worldwide.

Arsene Wenger has remained adamant that he will not allow Sanchez to join a Premier League rival and has even suggested that he would be willing to allow the forward to leave for free next year when his contract expires. And while most clubs around the world would balk at paying a player such an astronomical sum every week, Murphy has urged Arsenal to shell out for Sanchez or risk buying an expensive, inadequate replacement.

Sanchez scored 30 goals in 51 appearances across all competitions last season.

But the French club are playing hard ball over the fee and will hold out for as much as they can get for the 21-year-old. Meanwhile, City striker Wilfried Bony is said to be drawing interest from China and France.
