Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Yasmin Rashid, who is also a candidate to contest election from NA-120 after the seat fell vacant due to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's disqualification, has demanded implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) in Punjab to curb attacks. A rescue official told PTI that an explosive device hidden inside the truck went off at around 9 pm local time.

The injured, including women and children, were rushed to nearby hospitals.

The health condition of a number of those wounded in the explosion has been reported as critical.

The blast which reportedly occurred in a truck full of fruit was heard across Lahore shattering glasses of buildings around Band Road.

He went on to note that an investigation has been launched on determining how and when the vehicle arrived at the blast site.

Hospital sources further said that 10 of the injured are under treatment while two have been referred to Mayo hospital for further treatment.

"Due the impact of the blast, I fell on the ground".

Wafula Chebukati , the electoral commission chairman, said he was crucial to the running of the vote scheduled for 8 August. Msando was tasked with overseeing the commission's electronic voting system, which is supposed to eliminate voter fraud.

Ashraf added, "At least 35 people have suffered injuries in the incident".

The explosion shattered the windows of nearby buildings.

A spokesman for the Lahore electric supply company said the high-intensity blast badly damaged the circuit of the grid station.

Earlier in July, at least 26 people were martyred in a suicide attack in the Ferozepur area of the provincial capital.

Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif has instructed police authorities to file a report of the incident.

In April, six persons were killed and 15 others injured when a suicide bomber targeted a population census team in Lahores Bedian Road.
