PRINCES William and Harry will visit Diana's memorial garden this afternoon in a touching show of love on the eve of the anniversary of her death.

Yesterday, they were to take a tour of one of Kensington Palace's public gardens, transformed temporarily in memory of Diana.

Fans and friends of Diana, princess of Wales were to mark the 20th anniversary of her death on Thursday as well-wishers lit candles and paid their respects at the sombre scene of her fatal auto crash.

"Everyone remembers where they were the day she died, and when they heard about it", said 74-year-old Nancy Purinton, on holiday with her husband from the US.

Earlier they braved torrential rain to visit the White Garden at the palace, created this year to evoke the princess's sense of style and colour choices.

Her friend, John Loughrey, wearing a union jack shirt with matching hat, said he "cried all through the night" upon hearing the news of Diana's death.

Meanwhile, in another documentary that aired on BBC, Prince Harry condemns paparazzi for taking photos of his dying mom instead of helping her after the accident.

The White Garden now marks the fourth memorial in London that has been dedicated to The People's Princess.

William has said he tells his children, Prince George, four, and Princess Charlotte, two, about the Granny Diana they will never meet.

While at the palace today, William and Harry spoke to well-wishers, waving and smiling at the crowd who had gathered outside the gates.

William and Harry contributed to some of the documentaries to honour her memory, but are otherwise marking the occasion more discreetly than in previous years.

They also met with representatives from charities supported by the Princess of Wales.

Following the walkabout, Kensington Palace tweeted: "The Duke and Prince Harry are grateful for the many flowers, letters and messages they have received about their Mother".
