The United Way of Cullman County has established a relief fund to help with the recovery needs and to help address the problems of the devastating and widespread flooding in the area caused by Hurricane Harvey.

At this Southwest Airlines site you can donate miles to a variety of charities including two likely to be focused on recover efforts in Texas: American Red Cross and All Hands Volunteers.

United CEO Oscar Munoz made headlines earlier this year following the airline's highly publicized dragging incident, but now his name is in the news for an entirely different reason.

The charities are the American Red Cross, AmeriCares, Airlink and Operation USA. Find the link here.

The Chicago-based airline and its customers have also raised more than $1m for a broader public relief effort for Houston, which included a $200,000 contribution by United, said Maddie King, a spokesman for the company. Donations between $50-$99 equal 250 bonus miles, donations between $100-$249 equal 500 bonus miles while donations above $250 equals 1,000 bonus miles.

Becker estimated Tuesday the storm could cost Southwest $77 million and Spirit $11 million.

Members of American Airlines' AAdvantage mileage program will earn 10 bonus miles for every dollar they donate to the American Red Cross from now through September 15. More details are available here.
