Instagram Stories are expanding beyond just the app

One of the representatives from Instagram claimed the Stories setting on the mobile web is going to start though the platform has not revealed as yet the tools that are going to be available from the beginning.

If you visit Instagram.com on your mobile or desktop, you will see stories at the top of your Instagram feed. Clicking/tapping left or right arrows will skip the stories. Instagram says that it has rolled out over 20 new features so far including Boomerangs right in the story, stickers, face filters, ability to mention and link other accounts and so on.

Now, you can share your emotions through a happy sun, a sad raincloud, an angry thunderstorm or a laid-back sun.

The move to bring Stories to the web may seem relatively minor, but it broadens access to the feature, including in developing markets. Now the Facebook-owned photo-and-video-sharing service is extending its Snapchat clone to its online audience.

"Stories has quickly become an important part of the Instagram experience - over 250 million people use it every day to see what their friends are doing in the moment", said Instagram.

With Instagram stories it has effectively copies Snapchat's primary use.

Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) is investing heavily in improving the web-based version of its ultra popular Instagram app, amid a big rise in users accessing the service on desktop, particularly in worldwide markets.

Last month, Facebook Stories were also made available to desktop users. Over 80% of Instagram's base is outside the USA, the company notes.
