Hemerocallis middendorfii inflorescence and flower. Hemerocallis middendorfii is a herbaceous, perennial, deciduous, rhizomatous plant with thickened roots.

The bluish-green leaves are up to 1.5 cm wide. The flowers are fragrance-free, dish-shaped, intense yellow in color and up to 8 cm in diameter. The tepalos are united in the base forming a short tube of 1,2 cm in length. The outer tepals are elliptical and the interiors are spatulate. The flowers are gathered at the extremity of a bracteado scape of up to 9 dm of height, without ramifications. The bracts are oval and overlap at the base.

It is used in gardening and landscaping as it provides color and contrast in perennial plant beds when grown in groups. In large parks, it is effective also to solve the erosion cultivating it in the slopes. Asismismo, even when the plants are not in flowering, the leaves provide an elegant foliage, color and texture in the evergreens.
