clear dark red; minimal head, 1/4-inch tall, beige foam that dissipates quickly; thin necklace, no stick or lace

S: dust ... ice cold it renders little, but as it warms, chocolate milk, sweet creamy coffee; no coffee astringency or sharp aromas, much more like a salty Mexican coffee bean; hint of espresso

T: chocolate ... even cold, it has a sweet chocolate flavor; as it warms, creamy coffee; right in midswallow it has an earthy bitter bite that's immediately smoothed out by a sweet coffee flavor; you have a slight medicinal flavor at times, but even when you think it's building up and taking over, a big rush of milk chocolate flavor washes away

F: midweight with good carbonation, much lighter than the big slick stouts but still plenty of heft

O: fantastic coffee beer, perhaps the best I've had yet and good enough that I hope Real Ale considers keeping it around; the chocolate aromas and flavors are the highlight for me; very sweet but with just enough of an earthy bitterness to remind you it's beer; a crowning achievement in the Brewer's Cut series, which has yet to produce a yet for me
