Noisette (pink) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Noisette , also called Noisetti or Rosis Noisetti is a group of old garden roses. The first rose Noisette was grown as a hybrid seed by a South Carolina rice planter named John Champneys.

Her parents were 'Pink Parson' rose China and autumn flowering musk Rosa moschata) , resulting in a vigorous climbing rose with the production of huge clusters of small pink flowers from spring to autumn. Champneys sent seedlings of his rose (Champneys' Pink Cluster) to his friend gardener, Philippe Noisette, who in turn sent the plants to his brother Louis in Paris, who then obtained 'Blush Noisette' in 1817. < / p>

The first Noisettes had small, abundant flowers, climbers quite resistant to winter. But subsequent hybridizations with tea genes created a subclass of tea-Noisette with larger flowers, small clusters, and greatly reduced the resistance of the rose to the cold.

Examples: 'Mme. Alfred Carriere ',' Desprez a Fleurs Jaunes', 'Aimée Vibert', 'Marechal Niel' (Tea-Noisette).

This rose was named after the two Noisette brothers, French nationals. One went to live in the United States and the other stayed in France. The first rose Noisette was the '' Blush Noisette '', produced in 1817 from seeds from 'Champney's Pink Cluster'. Other hybrids followed, results from the latter and 'Park's Yellow'. The 'Champney's Pink Cluster' was the result of a moschata and a chinensis.

The Noisette rose grows well in temperate climates. They are of constant flowering, as long as there are no extremes of heat or cold. There are several sizes of flower, from groups of small flowers in the case of 'Alister Stella Gray', to medium flowers like those that have 'Mme. Alfred Carriere '.

Currently in the Edisto memorial gardens of South Carolina have collected a collection of most of the hybrids of Noissette.
