Wuhan: Chinese President Xi Jinping has left no stone unturned to bid farewell to PM Modi during the last day of his two-day informal visit to China's central Wuhan city.

The Xi-Modi meeting in 2018 following the 2017 Doklam standoff will without doubt promote mutual trust and reciprocity between the two countries, and will be a cornerstone of a stable long-term relationship between China and India. Bilateral ties deteriorated past year when troops from both nuclear-armed powers stared each other down for months in a remote part of the Himalayas in a border dispute near Bhutan.

The two leaders will seek a fair settlement to their border disputes, and to this end Special Representatives appointed by the two governments will play a key role.

Terming the informal meeting between Mr. Xi and Mr. Modi "a success and a milestone", Mr. Kong said, this meeting was not meant to solve specific problems, but the main aim was to strengthen communication exchanges, provide strategic guidance to the relations, and increase mutual trust between the leaders.

The understanding was reached between the two leaders during the two-day informal summit which concluded on Saturday, they said.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping will provide "strategic guidance" to their armies to prevent another Doklam-like military stand-off along their long-winding disputed border. New Delhi has also been alarmed by China's moves to build ties with Indian Ocean nations including India's longtime rival Pakistan.

Improved relations would provide "stability amidst the current global uncertainties", said Gokhale, the top official in India's foreign ministry. India and China also agreed to undertake a joint project in Afghanistan, the Press Trust of India reported.

Addressing the media in Wuhan Saturday, Indian Foreign Secretary, Vijay Gokhale, said the two countries had the "maturity and the wisdom" to handle their differences through peaceful discussion.

Koulibaly: Napoli have always believed in Scudetto
The match was a nail-biter, with Napoli nearly notching an early goal when winger Lorenzo Insigne fired a shot that went wide. Inter are a point further back in fifth, just outside the Champions League places, after a hard-fought 2-1 win over Chievo.

India has pledged over Dollars two billion on a wide array of reconstruction projects that range from building roads and dams to constructing the building of the Afghan parliament and a slew of grassroots projects.

The focus on enhancing "strategic communication" indicates both India and China are looking at each other as potential partners.

This development suggests that China is unwilling to have its options cramped by Pakistan's reservations about India's role in Afghanistan.

The two leaders also discussed climate change, sustainable development and food security and shared their experience in terms of the preservation of the Yangtze - China's longest river - and the Ganga - India's longest river.

"Conducting great cooperation by our two great countries can generate worldwide influence", Xi was quoted as saying by state broadcaster CCTV.

He further said that such informal summits between India and China should happen often, adding that such summits should become a tradition between the two Asian giants. The Chinese President also hosted a dinner in honour of the visiting Indian Prime Minister. China has repeatedly blocked India's bid to designate Azhar as a global terrorist by the UN.

The minister said that Mr. Xi emphasised that the problems between China and India were "temporary" but the cooperation would be "everlasting".
