'I have made a decision to stay, ' he finally proclaimed at the end of a much-criticised mini documentary which aired last night.

He is now with the France squad, preparing for the World Cup, as Les Bleus kick off their campaign against Australia on June 16th.

The forward has been with Atletico since 2014 and last season helped the team to lift the Europa League, scoring 29 goals in all competition for Diego Simeone's side.

"But it is not bad luck, something has been missing, and in the league we are always second or third, we are missing something". Am I staying? How much they will pay me?

"You're fed up with all the talk, am I going?"

He wanted assurances over Atleti's ambition in the transfer market, though felt it would be easier to win the title with Barca, and he seemed deeply affected when he was booed in the final La Liga match of the season despite a man-of-the-match display in the Europa League final just a few days earlier.

Defending champion Jelena Ostapenko loses in french…
World number five Ostapenko slumped to a 7-5 6-3 defeat to Kozlova, who had won both the previous meetings in which the pair met. Williams was another seed to fall, the seven-time major singles champion going down 6-4 7-5 to Chinese outsider Qiang Wang.

The documentary attempted to emphasise that Griezmann had been weighing his future for the past two months, showing phone conversations he had with his sister and agent, Maud, and his deliberations while visiting his horses.

"I went home very affected and my family too, I did not understand why they bust me".

The France forward then said on Tuesday at a news conference that a decision had been reached but it "is not the time" to reveal what it was.

"They are doing everything possible to make sure the team keeps growing".

"I have made a decision to stay".

Despite most eyes being on the World Cup, Griezmann's announcement came at a lull after the opening game, but fans were frustrated with the drawn-out announcement.
